Two friends, a promise, and a piece of land.
Deepa and Keshav met in 1990, in the sixth standard at S.B.O.A. Matric in Chennai — she had just arrived from Thavady with her mother and siblings, and Keshav was the boy at the next desk. Thirty six years on, Deepa is still Keshav's Best Friend.
In 1991, her Appa gifted her a piece of land back home in Thavady — a quiet promise from a father to his favourite among eight children. Five years later, he was taken from their family far too soon, in an act of lawlessness that no child should have to carry.
Deepa never stopped loving him. So they decided the land wouldn't just sit there — it would hold a celebration, every single time.
Purplenest is that decision: an outdoor wedding venue on her father's land, named for the colour Deepa has loved her whole life. Keshav will be moving back to India soon to build it, funding the ground-up construction through the startups he's running — this page is where they're keeping the momentum alive until the first stone is laid.
